Seimei Handan Calculator (姓名判断)

Seimei Handan (姓名判断) is the Japanese practice of reading fortune from the stroke counts of kanji characters in a full name. Used for centuries by Japanese families, it analyzes five structural pillars called go-kaku (五格).

The Five Go-Kaku Pillars

  • 天格Tenkaku (天格) — Heaven pillar from the family name. Represents inherited destiny.
  • 人格Jinkaku (人格) — Person pillar. The most important. Reflects core personality and relationships.
  • 地格Chikaku (地格) — Earth pillar from the given name. Represents early life and inner nature.
  • 外格Gaikaku (外格) — Outer pillar reflecting social relationships and the external world.
  • 総格Sokaku (総格) — Total pillar. Represents overall life fortune and second-half destiny.

Seimei Handan — five-pillar stroke fortune

Stroke counts use a curated map; unknown kanji default to 5 strokes for estimation.

Five-kaku at a glance

天格 Tenkaku reflects lineage and inherited luck from the surname. 人格 Jinkaku is the core personality pillar, often weighted heavily in readings. 地格 Chikaku comes from the given name and private, inner life. 外格 Gaikaku describes outer social luck. 総格 Sokaku sums the whole name for overall trajectory. Together they form the classic 五格 framework used in 姓名判断.
