1. Agreement to These Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of japanesenamer.info and related pages, tools, and content (collectively, the "Site"), operated by us ("JapaneseNamer," "we," "our," or "us"). By accessing or using the Site, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.

JapaneseNamer provides educational information about Japanese names and related cultural context, plus free browser tools such as name browsing and generation, katakana / "my name in Japanese" helpers, image-based name suggestions, an AI writing assistant, an AI tattoo idea generator, Seimei Handan-style readings, festival and blog content, optional mini-games, and curated links to third-party manga resources. Features may change, be limited, or be discontinued at any time.

4. Educational Purpose & No Government Affiliation

Content on this Site is for educational and entertainment purposes. The Site is not affiliated with the Japanese government. Name data is drawn from public records, academic references, and editorial research. It is not an official government naming registry, legal naming authority, or certified translation service.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Site only for lawful purposes. You must not:

• Attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse engineer, or compromise the Site, its APIs, or infrastructure
• Use the Site to harass, defraud, threaten, or harm others
• Upload malware, illegal content, or material you do not have the right to share
• Misrepresent AI-generated or Site-generated output as official, certified, government-approved, or professionally guaranteed naming or translation advice
• Scrape or automate access in a way that degrades service for other users or violates robots / rate limits
• Use the Site to infringe copyrights, trademarks, or other rights of any person or entity

We may suspend, restrict, or terminate access if we reasonably believe these Terms have been violated or if needed to protect the Site or others.

6. AI Tools & Accuracy Disclaimer

Several tools use artificial intelligence or algorithms, including (without limitation) the name generator, Japanese username generator, AI writer / Japanese assistant, Seimei Handan readings, Name from Image, and the AI tattoo generator. When you use those tools, the text, name inputs, or images you submit are sent to third-party providers so the tool can return a result, as described in our Privacy Policy.

Outputs may be incomplete, culturally imprecise, linguistically incorrect, biased, or otherwise inaccurate. Do not rely on AI or Site output as professional, legal, medical, religious, immigration, or cultural advice. Always verify important name choices, tattoo designs, and written Japanese with a qualified human (for example a native speaker, translator, or licensed professional) before using them in official documents, permanent body art, branding, or commercial products.

7. User-Uploaded Images

The Name from Image feature lets you upload an image for Japanese name-related suggestions. By uploading, you represent that you have all rights needed to upload and process that image, and that it does not infringe others' rights or contain unlawful material.

We do not claim ownership of your images. Uploads are processed to fulfill your request and are handled by third-party AI providers. Do not upload sensitive personal documents, images of others without permission, or anything you would not want processed by an AI service.

8. Manga Links & Third-Party Services

Pages such as Free Manga list or link to third-party publishers, libraries, apps, and other external services for convenience only. We do not host manga files on those list pages and are not responsible for third-party content, availability, licensing, pricing, or privacy practices.

Any optional in-browser manga reader (when enabled) relies on third-party APIs and may include fan-translated or region-restricted material. You are responsible for complying with copyright and licensing rules in your country. Prefer official publishers and licensed platforms when supporting creators.

The Site may also embed or link to YouTube, app stores, Product Hunt, or other third parties. Your use of those services is governed by their terms.

9. Games & Interactive Features

Mini-games and interactive tools (for example Flappy Name Ninja, Kanji Sweeper, and Sakura Connect 4) are provided for entertainment. Scores, progress, or local storage on your device are not a paid service and may be reset or removed when features change.

10. Intellectual Property

Site design, branding, original editorial text, software, and trademarks of JapaneseNamer are owned by us or our licensors. Japanese names, kanji characters, and public cultural facts are not owned by us. You may view and use the Site for personal, non-commercial learning. You may not copy substantial portions of the Site for commercial republication, resale, or competing products without our prior written permission.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SITE AND ALL TOOLS ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. Name meanings, readings, popularity figures, cultural notes, and AI outputs may contain errors or oversimplifications. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

12. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SITE OR RELIANCE ON ANY CONTENT OR AI OUTPUT, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATED TO THE SITE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US (IF ANY) IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR (B) USD $50.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those places, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

13. Indemnity

You agree to defend and hold harmless JapaneseNamer and its operators from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the Site, your uploaded content, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.

14. Availability & Changes to the Site

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Site at any time without liability. We may also update these Terms. When we do, we will post the revised version on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in the jurisdiction where the Site operator resides, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory consumer protections in your country require otherwise. Courts in that jurisdiction shall have exclusive venue for disputes, subject to those mandatory protections.

16. Severability & Entire Agreement

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Site and supersede prior agreements on the same subject.
